Relying on memories of years spent wandering cities and villages in Europe in the mid 1980s, Artisanal Finishes began in the early 2000s after Shannon received requests to transform other businesses and homes the way he had transformed his antique store in the West End Market. 

Using real Italian marble plasters, earth pigments, dye stains, waxes, acrylics, and real fossils and gemstones, he created uncommon Old World, Art Nouveau and contemporary finishes.
